There are 2 weeks left until, what is looking like the biggest respawn ever!

So it comes time again for me to ask you all what you would like to see happen in terms of game servers to run.

Unfortunately me or the game server team cannot keep 100% up to date with every game on earth so occasionally some awesome titles fall through the gaps.

At this stage the following servers will be running at V11

Counter-Strike Source (2-3 Pub servers, Various map rotations)
Counter-Strike Source - Gungame mod (2 servers, 1x Break/Glass 24x7, 1x Custom Maps)
Counter-Strike Source CTF
HL2DM
TF2 (By Request)
UT2004 Deathmatch
UT2004 Instagib
UT2004 CTF
UT3 Deathmatch (Others by request)
Quake 3 Deathmatch
Quake 3 CTF
Quake 3 Instagib
COD4 TDM
COD4 Gungame (Others by request)
COD5 (By Request)

Possible Servers (may not be active all lan)

Left 4 Dead


Now... competitions. bear in mind we cannot run every game you can think of in a competitive environment, so keep the suggestions sane please

These competitions will be following a similar theme to the last event.
By this i mean the comps will be for FUN, and the aim of the game is to get as many people playing a certain game at once.

For those who did not attend V10 or dont read the forums, The competition ideas i am taking a request for must fall into the following categories
1. The comp cannot go for more than an hour (i want to fit a fair few funcomps in this event, so a quick game is a good game)
2. The game must allow for TONNES of players (e.g 32 player servers or 8 player RTS servers)
3. If the game is unknown to many, please provide a detailed explanation with links to the game you are referring to.
4. The game must be FUN AND AWESOME.

Funcomps went really well at V10 with a massive game of HL2DM being played by at least 32 people. We will be ironing out the server issues for HL2DM this lan to make for a massive game of HL2DM at V11.

Anyone interested in H.A.W.X? Maybe not competition-wise as it's still a fairly recent release, but just a casual server as I'm sure people will be itching to try out the massive multiplayer dogfight combat.

Hey guys i am new to Respawn, but i have been running smaller scale lans from when i was at school. they where always a hit and more and more people came. one of the favorit was the 1v1's they let but you have to make up some kind of ladder.... does not take long and you just keep playing off its good fun its also double elimination so you have a chance to keep playing if you verse the best player in round one. Just an idea, tell me what you guys/girls think??? It works for most games as well

generally stick with the latest patches for everything

there is always a very active fo2 comp (almost 40 players at last lan)

How about a prisonbreak css mod server? It's a hit n miss, but if done well it would be great, dunno bout the amount of players who would play it though.

We do quite a few double elim comps, the requests i am referring to here are quick "funcomps", for example first to 100 in UT3 Deathmatch etc...

UT2004 will run patch 3369
I will check the latest patch for UT3 and ensure its fully updated

GRID/Flatout2 comp?

Flatout 2 is a major competition and will be at respawn for many events to come.

Grid sounds like a winner for a small funcomp, anyone else interested in this one?

we NEED a TF2 comp. In arena mode, 5v5 should be fine, and we should have PLENTY of people willing to go for that. It can even go as low as 3v3

all the major competitions have been decided on, so i cannot do a TF2 5v5 double elim comp.

at best i can offer a TF2 funcomp, if we get the interest.

I have found in past lans that a few people come up to me demanding a TF2 comp but when push comes to shove, no one registers.

It's been done before, but for a CS:S map (not latrobe specifically). Apparently the school got unhappy.

Perhaps the projector could contain some form of a twitter like thing where people can shout out one line saying what they're playing (as well as be able to access said list on the intranet). Something like "* SirSquidness is playing TF2, arena"

I realise the forums are there, but they get bogged down in spam.

Or perhaps a shout-box sort of thing on the main intranet page.
