EOI: Springvale LAN Options

Hi Guys,

This is just so people can register their interest, at this stage, and depending on the response, it may be held.

Myself, and a few other regular LANners would like to hold a LAN party. At this stage, we're looking at a 30-40 player cap. The LAN will be held in Springvale, just behind Sandown Race course in a factory. It has all the nececities - toliets, 3 Phase Power, and a huge floorspace that could seat approx 70-80 people comfortably. The network equipment will be supplied (at this stage either linksys or 3com gigabit managed switching), along with tables / chairs. The first event will be more of a trial, we're hoping for a turnout of 20-30 people, and entry fee will be $15 per computer. Spectators can come free.

At this stage, we are looking to run the lan on a saturday 10am -> sunday 10am for a full 24 hours of gaming. Dates arent confirmed yet, but we are just out looking for interest at the moment, and we'll go from here.

heh, sure deadman, throw octobox our way for some gaming servers i'll also take a 3 Phase distro and a few cisco's.....

On a more serious note, this will be a very small lan, and im planning on borrowing some 3com baseline gigabit layer 2 managed switches to run it, and i can run some game servers from neonserv, and a few other servers we have. The idea I guess is to run a small lan, and see how it goes first, then decide if we want to run another one.

Any idea what sort of 'style' you'll be running? Lots of comps, whatever goes, prizes, afk activites, RTS/FPS focused, eh?

haha. I had a look on google maps before posting to see where Springvale was (Shush. I'm not from around here. ). Was just closing old firefox windows, and I noticed that the streetview picture for Springvale was the side of a LinFox truck.

not sure about heating, i'll have to look into that, but im sure something can be thought of.

Yeah, better than Red Eye, I think the only reason people drink Redeye at respawn is the fact it's the one for sale.

we've just gained sponsorship from AMD - Awesome! I'm hoping this will help the LAN run some comps with prizes. If your intereted, please register for the forums, and post in the rego thread (until i can get a rego system and website going)
