Hey dudes,

I just want to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped run Respawn this weekend. As it was only my second event, I can't really say "as per usual", but if I could I would say that, as per usual, it was an epicly awesome event.

Just like last time, I had a fucking fantastic time. Much fun comps was to be had (z0mg. TF2 comp was awesome fun. UT2k4 instagib pre-comp matches were fun, pity I ran out of pwning a round before it started, HL2DM was win. Worms and Flatout2 would have been quite enjoyable too, had flatout2 worked and worms picked up the worms server)

I did miss the AFK comps though. Said events last time did provide quite a bit of fun, an opportunity to socialise more and more things to get shifty glances for.

Special thanks to
-zardoz + his assitants for being an awesome network guy + fixing the issues we had, and preventing mass virus infections.
-Tank + her assistans for having food. z0mg. Awesome timing with the sausages. I woke up from my 'slumber' (if you could call it that), and there it was, sausages in 10 minutes. Pure win. And orange juice for sale. Pure. Win. And creamy soda... Creamy soda > *
-Everyone else. 'cos I don't actually know the names of many people or what they do, but everyone did a fantastic job. As far as I, a mere player at the event, was concerned, it was a complete success.

Thanks so much dudes and dudettes, I do look forward to the next one again.

(actually, as far as I was concerned, it wasn't as good as it could have been, 'cos Flatout2 kept crashing on my PC, so I couldn't race, but that's my problem, not yours wink.gif )

Yes I agree..

This was My first respawn and i think i could safley say ill re register again for the next one... whenever it is?

BUT i did have a few problems with my games... and i would like to thank all the gamers out there that gave me a hand in attempting to fix them =]

it was great =] Thanks Admins... and players...

btw when is next one? and when will registration be open?

I agree... I had quite an awesome time. It was a tragedy that confliker reared its head but its one of those things that cant be planned for because yeah.... my only concern lol was trying to sleep at 3am with people yelling loudly - i have come to the conclusion i'll buy ear plugs so i can sleep lol. cos its a lan its one of those things that is to be expected.

V12 will be awesomer

Im pretty sure they would go to the LAN lol... unless they're 13 years old and going to see Grandma for the weekend to get there $100 for another Wii game...

Long weekend would have been better to be honest. Leaves monday to recover and get sleeping pattern back for the people who work.

Another fantastic LAN. A massive thanks to Zardoz, who worked his arse off fixing that conflicker virus quickly. That thing was nasty - well done to him for fixing the switch configs, or whatever he did (all i know is that he was doing something amazing on the switches and i'd give my left testicle to be able to do cisco shit like that).

Massive thanks to the rest of the admin team and the gophers for your fantastic work in setting up and running the lan.

Dispite having to leave early Sunday morning (1am to be precise), the LAN was a huge success in my eyes. The Conficker Virus issue was definately something that we did not want to see, although it did keep us on our toes that's for sure! I'm telling you now I'm going to go back to my desk and book my ARL for 3rd-6th July weekend so I get recovery time! biggrin.gif Coming from work to Setup is a big drain! Especially taking an hour just to travel about 20km. biggrin.gif

Anywho once again to Zardoz and the gang, well done. Give yourelves a pat on the back and by golly we're gonna do it all again next time! biggrin.gif

I'm glad you guys enjoyed TF2. Myself and Dead_man were sort of winging it as to what format to run it etc. (if you didn't notice tongue.gif ). Thanks for campaigning for it here on the forums though. I did thoroughly enjoy it as well. Even though we got our arse handed to us in the finals. :*(

If that was the PC that was on the set of tables most near the annex area (where the floral projector was sitting tongue.gif). I was up there at the time organising the projector and I looked down when I heard it fire up. I was thinking it was gonna blow up or something hahaha.

Chucking my cpu, gpu and case fans up to 100% increases my comp sound by an order of magnitude... but I couldn't even tell a difference at respawn

I'm pretty happy with how most of the lan was run. I think however that it would be a good idea to include some sort of single player sign up system for people who want to join in the competitions but don't have a team already. Extra teams could be made up those players and they could also fill up the vacant slots in other teams. It seems at the moment that those people can only either wait for a call from the admins for 1 more person or keep asking in the game server for a team.

this is a plan for V12. hopefully it will be ready by then

Tank, I had no issues with store/check in/etc. Was nice and quick, friendly, and the register went DING! What more could I want? happy.gif

hmm im getting alot of internal emails form people trying to send me to bogus sites, prob with lots of virus's, got 2 so far anyone else gettin them ? i think some 1 dont like me from respawn 11 lol
