Everywhere I look these days, it seems that more and more PSU's are certified 80 Plus. Does this mean it's more reliable than those not rated, or is there something I missed when reading websites?

Yeah in nearly all cases the 80+ rated psus are designed better than other non rated ones. If you don't know what else to look for, an 80+ rating and a decent wattaqe (for what you are using it for) will get you a good power supply
