Basically each tournament will have "pros" rock up take it out and then leave, giving casual gamers not much of a chance at winning prizes. Besides afk comps etc.

Would it be hard for an admin to find a game that Isn't widely played. Such as worms or doom 3. Just as examples and making them a spur of the moment competition. Meaning people know there is an unknown game being played as a tournament but until that time in which the tournament is about to be played no-one is prepared for it. Meaning no-one can pre-determinedly practice on that game giving everyone an equal opportunity or even a chance as winning.

There's really not much to the idea but if anyone needs more detail I'm sure I could explain it a bit better.

Much love.

Harlski.

We call them funcomps, and we run them every hour smile.gif

Quite a few of them are just oddball games like teeworlds or baboviolent.
But we also run HL2DM, UT2k4 (various mods), Quake at least once, and whatever else pops into orbit's or my head tongue.gif

But they're as what they state, fun comps you win like a bag of lollys.

I'm talking like prizes that match bigger tournaments like keyboards and shit.

And Alioth explains it better.

the bigger the tournament, the bigger the prize

if a game is some no name nothing that no one plays, then there will be little interest.

maybe just get good at a game that people play?

This is exactly it. Why should the 'pro' players be disadvantaged because they practice more/get a clan together? They obviously wanted the prize more than you did, or you would have practised just as much. At the end of the day, a tournament is still a tournament.
