I hear the game developers are doing some work on it, but to be quite frank - I think they're trying to steer a rapidly sinking ship. The game doesn't even deserve a $5 indie badge to be honest. On another note, I did notice this website with some mods (including tracks from the Original FlatOut - particularly ice derby) at http://www.flatoutjoint.com.
