Nuclear Dawn, FPS and RTS in one game? Options

So, game came out awhile ago, has lan support, designed around two teams of players using squads and a commander.

Cheap enough, based on L4D2 Source engine, and I think could be worth it.

I'm hoping to play it at Respawn.

Whats a good number of players for a game like this?

I'd never heard of it, but it looks interesting. I'd be willing to give it a go, provided I knew there'd be more than enough other players willing to as well.
