Hello everyone!.

Some of you may have seen me at the last two respawns running the CS:S competitions. Unfortunately I am unable to attend the next respawn due to running another event - the Gamerthon! That will run from the 31st March till 6th April at ACMI in federation square. The event is not a BYOC event - all the PC's will be supplied.

Gamerthon

"The Gamerthon is a seven day gaming Festival held at ACMI (The Australian Centre for the Moving Image), in Melbourne’s Federation square during the school holiday period of March 31st – April 6th – and is one of the largest eSports events in Australasia.

Runing alongside the GameOn exhibition, the Gamerthon will draw global attention - showcasing the latest in bleeding edge technology and gaming entertainment, as well as the best gamers from around the globe. Run by Anything Interactive in conjunction with ACMI, it is a wholly Australian owned, and run, gaming event for Australians to be patriotic and proud of. Spectators will have free entry to watch the tournaments, as well as to test drive the latest in gaming technology via the various interactive play zones.

The scope of this event has enormous potential in terms of industry and media exposure. Located in one of the busiest hubs of Melbourne's CBD, with over 110,000 commuters passing through the adjacent Flinders Street Station daily, Federation Square serves as a key meeting point and leisure zone for all people in Melbourne. ACMI, continuing with the recent success of the Pixar exhibition, which drew 150,000 viewers, is hosting the Gamerthon during the Easter school holiday period – setting a platform for all of Melbourne to venture into a vibrant, gaming culture."

CyberGamer will be running the Call of Duty 4 tournament at Gamerthon. It will take place over 2 days, Monday March the 31st. and Tuesday April the 1st in Melbourne.
On Monday, we will be running the ‘group stages’ at VA Cyber Cafe – Level 1, 202 Bourke Street.
(***note: not the at the ACMI venue in Federation Square***)

There will be 4 groups, each consisting of a maximum of 6 teams. This means that the tournament has room for 24 teams in total. The entry fee is $30 per person ($150 per team).

* The first two groups will start at 10AM at VA Cyber Cafe.
* The last two groups will start at 3PM at VA Cyber Cafe.

At the end of the day’s play, the top two teams from each group will be invited to the finals, all of which will take place the very next day (Tuesday the 1st).
On Tuesday we will be running the finals at the ACMI venue in Federation Square, where the top 8 teams from the previous day will compete.

* Quarter Finals will start at 10:30
* Semi finals will start at 1:30pm
* CoD4 Grand Final will start at 4pm.

The finals will run from two spaces with ACMI;

* The function room – the main area for all the games and activities
* The screen pit – a multi camera studio, where the matches will be streamed live via Internet TV, with live sports commentary provided by Anything Interactive’s presenters – chemicalnova and m0nks

There is $6000 in Cash and Prizes confirmed. The prize breakdown will be announced with the Gamerthon website release next week. Teams are to understand that they will receive their cash prize up to 30 days after the event, however, the product prizes will be available for immediate pickup.
