Hey guys,

As you may already know, Simon Thomas King has passed away. He was in a fatal car accident at 2:30am on the 18/9/09. He had smashed into a tree that apparently had broken the car in two on impact.

These were his last words:

"I'm sorry to everyone for this. I could never hack it in life. I always took the cowards way out. I shut myself inside a world with my girlfriends and ignored other friends and family. Now the past 7 years of my life have hit me because now I ...have nothing. 7 years of emotions is too much for me to bear. I cannot deal with the lonliness and the heartache that lies ahead. I can't live on like this. this is all too much for me to take. I'm sorry I had to do this but i cannot go on living knowing I am such a screw up. I am sorry to everyone in my life. It's better this way for everyone.

Goodbye for the final time, from Simon Thomas King."

I might've not known Simon as well as most other people, but, whenever we had a chat or when i was begging for slots on DC++, he always had something funny to say. It's sad that he has passed on, but we must remember him for the awesome person that he was.

I am currently in the process of composing a song dedicated to him. I need a vocalist for when we get into the studio and professionally record...

And please, if you have anything that would inspire me or help with the writing of the song, don't hesitate to drop me a line with your ideas. It'd be nice if people would contribute as much as possible.

I'd also just like to add how amazing the minute of silence was. it was truly moving, and it meant a lot to people.

Agreed. I only got to know him when I sat next to him and loaned him my 3G internet so he could update the anti-virus on his server. And helping him support SANLAN to supply the event with Energy drink goodness.

The moment of silence at Respawn was quite epic to have the entire event come to a complete stand-still in memory of him. Believe me when I say, when the admins and the gopher Friday night setup team found the tragic news online, it brought the evening to a complete stand-still for a few minutes whilst the news sunk in.

R.I.P. Neon - You will be missed.

Only talked to him once, he let me plug in a portable hard drive to grab a file I really needed off his server that would have taken about 4 hours on dc. For someone who probably got 10 requests a minute on DC, I was very impressed and touched he let me do this.

he will be missed by us all but not forgotten hope his lan is still going to go on ;-(

Hey everyone, me again.

I'd just like to let people know that I (and possibly one or two others) will be attending Simon' funeral this friday, partly as representatives of the respawn community, an wider lanning community.

Flowers are usually what is called for at these times, (and i was considering 'passing the hat' as such) however the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beyond Blue, which is the national depression initiative.

He always seemed like a nice guy! Very patient considering he would've been annoyed by so many for slots! even me. ><
Pretty fun in the LAN chatrooms, and was always willing to share with people.
Only spoke to him once in a while, but yesh... will miss his beeping server.

As will I, I even have formal clothes I never knew existed. Mothers are good for something besides ya mum jokes. Neon was a great guy. He wasn't rude to slot beggers, he just laughed at them lol.

Hey all... as most of you know that Simon and myself were very good freinds, we both had the idea of starting a lan, he had the brains and i had the location...

Simon in his usuall fashion leaped at the possiballity of running a lan, and took charge, and got Sanlan off its feet.

i can assure you all, and also other Sanlan members whom are also a part of the respawn team that Sanlan will continue...

allthough the next one is a little messed up with all that has happened it will continue.
