Okay, first of all, hi everyone!

So... My questions are:
- What is probably the important stuffs to bring there (beside notebook + charger)?
- Is this sorta like back-to-back gaming tournament?
- If I'm on confirmed list (not prepaid) and suddenly I can't join, will there be any BAD consequences besides making an empty space at the place?

Welcome!

Firstly,
1) graphics drivers/lan drivers on DVD incase of any issues.
2) An ethernet cable!
3) Some money for delicious food and drink!

It's not back-to-back per say. Most are put with some breaks to allow for people to eat/drink/get some fresh air or join in AFK comps like iron gut (not sure if its on this event)

Thirdly! Don't fret, Respawn allow walk in's from 2pm to take the empty seats of the event for people who may have missed out on confirms or even registering.

Also, if this is your first event. You should check out the free BBQ at about midnight.

1. Check. Btw, how about powerboard? I think one of my friend mentioned that...
2. Check!
3. Uhh, check!

Oh, cool then. No bans from joining the next event if I (by any crazy circumstances) missed this one, even though I'm on the confirmed list, right?

Will do, thanks man! Btw, which campus of La Trobe university is this? The one near Victoria Market or... Bundoora...?

This is more of a personal pet peeve of mine, but it's something I think all new users should be aware of.
When just going through the forum, please check post dates before replying. Odds are if it's more than a month or two old and there's been no posts, the original poster's concern is over.
General exceptions off the top of my head:
-1,000,000 post thread
-Pimp my Rig thread
-Free games list
-Tournament rules threads (only post if you have a legitimate question or query)
-The quote thread

Most important things to bring to LAN:

- Headphones (You bring speakers, and
Fred might just chew your speaker cables. blink.gif )
- Cash : as said below (Man and his cat has to eat)
- Caffeine (drinks) to keep you awake
[You may also want to get some Guarana Pills / No Doz Pills -- they sell them at servos and the alchemist shop.
Energy drinks don't do it for me -as much- anymore. Coffee does however. COFFAH!?!?!?!]
- Laptop (You may also want to bring LCD / BLACK LED screen)
- Keyboard and Mouse (If you don't want to be using the laptop's keyboard)
- Network cable at least 25m to 50m long. (You never know how far the 'Hub' is going to be)
Optional: Extra network cable -- You never know if friend leaves the network cable at home. But you can buy them here.
- Your power cables. Don't run on battery. It sucks.
- Monah! (As above -- I herd monah buys things and its worth mentioning twice.)
- Games pre-installed that you might want to play, right?
(Even if a LAN does have net access its still shit. Unless your John Carmack and QuakeCon.)
-

A plastic storage box is worth investing in - makes carrying all your things in much easier!
unsure.gif
(Personally I keep it to two bags at a minimum with spare input devices, sleeping gear and COFFAH!) rolleyes.gif
You can get good airport luggage for 30 AUstralian Dollars and that usually holds everything. Plus its an investment when you shopping and stuff. I've only ever seen about 20 people bring a plastic storage box. The admins at Overkill used to bring storage boxes for the power cables and stuff that is all I rememberz laugh.gif

Additional (optional extras):
- You may want to bring pillow to sit on (or sleep on) cause the chair gets annoying after 3 hours.
or bring your own comfortable chair if your method of transport has that amount of room in it.
- Book (In case you have nothing to do -- hey, you never know.) mellow.gif
- Screw Driver (If you have a case and need maint) dry.gif
- Lilo or blow up bed. (Just something you can throw up and lie down on) [SLEEPZ AT LAN NERVAH!]
- 6 / 4 prong power board. (Pending)
- Duct Tape : Trust me... you never know
- Multitool Set.
- Deoderant/Body Spray - cause after two days you too can smell like stale chinese noodle shop. huh.gif

Things not to bring:

- Alcohol (It isn't a piss up and its an alcohol free event)

- Bad Attitude (Fun attitudes are better appreciated)

- Porn : we are an under 18 event (But it looks so... NOES don't bring it)

- Illict drugs (Yes you know what I mean.)

If you have 'habit'. Don't bring it here. I've seen my fairshare of LANs where people get drunk and have fun in the LAN but still. If you *must* do it keep it away from the LAN. It usually works out better in the long run anyway. Infer point 2: Behave like you'd want other people to behave towards you. dry.gif

- Don't bring electric ketltles, microwaves, swedish foot massager or anything that WILL consume a large amount of power from the 'power network' : it breaks and trips the load bearing on the power generator. There was this one time and the electrical kettle didn't survive. If you want coffee, there is a healthy 'walk' to McDonalds (or drive.) I'd go if I was free.

Happy Gamzing. cool.gif

P.S: Also @ admins having comp timetables on doors or places where people walk past and spend time is also a good idea (pieces of paper are 20 cents [A4?] / clock on projector would also be a help. So comp timetables on doorways. Union Hall pillars, etc. Cha Thxz

Unfortunately our comp timetables do require some flexibility, and having printed schedules does lead to confusion. For the most up-to-date information on comps and timetabling, see SirSquidness or r4n.
