There's about a month until the LAN. This LAN is 2 weeks AFTER respawn, on the last weekend of the school holidays. Hope to see you there!

hope this one runs better. At my last respawn, I was kicked from the comp because there werent enough players to fill the teams, and respawn admins couldnt be arsed working it out.

Centrecom are confirmed as sanLAN's Major sponsor for our second event. As well as providing us with some awesome prizes, Centrecom Frankston will be setting up a stall at the event, so that players can purchase last minute hard drives, and computer equipment. We may also be arranging a Centrecom Run at during the saturday so that any more specialised items that you need, you can buy them from the shop.

Thanks to centrecom for their awesome support.

We're also considering comps at the moment. We have CoD4 5v5 locked in for $250 prize money, but this is conditional against the amount of teams entering.
We're also going to run a DoD Source comp, and we have popular demand for a DoTA comp too.

If you have any suggestions, please tell us @ www.sanlan.com.au

SanLAN is coming back for their second LAN Party!

Register @ http://www.sanlan.com.au

What is SanLAN?

SanLAN is a new LAN Party on the block. In a world where people care more about online gaming, and the LAN Scene is slowly passing away, SanLAN are bringing back the LAN to the community.
SanLAN is currently the only advertised Large Organised LAN on the mornington peninsula. Whilst we are small, we pack a fairly large punch. Onboard with Centrecom Frankston, sanLAN #1 saw 5 competitions run, plus some large organised gaming.
WithSanLAN 2.0 We're taking the awesome start we had, and we're making it better. You told us what you wanted, and we listened. With a New Intranet system, for organising pizza runs, and gaming comps, and hopefully a music jukebox voting system, we hope to improve the organisation of the event, and make it the event that no gamer east of melbourne should miss.
With SanLAN 2.0, in addition to our Centrecom Frankston Sponsorship, We will be offering cash prizes for some of our major comps!

When is it?

Start: 3rd October 2009, 10AM
Finish: 4th October 2009, 12PM

Where is is

46a Frankston Gardens Drive
Carrum Downs VIC 3201

Google Maps Link

What Games?

Our first event saw HEAPS of CoD4 being played, along with a huge Flatout 2 competition, UT GTOY, Trackmania, and heaps more.

With SanLAN 2.0, we are planning to run at least 6 major competitions. Call of Duty and Day of Defeat Source will be running as teams, and winning teams will receive cash prizes:

Call of Duty 4 5v5 $250 prize money!!!
Day of Defeat Source 5v5 - $100 prize money!!!
Flatout 2
Trackmania
GRID
Left 4 Dead

On top of those big games, we want to see some LOG's of Counterstrike, NFS, Warcraft 3 DOTA, and tonnes more!

Please note, in order for the Call of Duty, and Day of Defeat comps to run, we require a MINIMUM of 4 teams to enter each comp

Registrations

We have a huge seating for 80 players.
Cost is $25 per player.
Registrations are open, at our website. Please create an account to register: http://www.sanlan.com.au
Hope to see you all there!!!

XP still owns. Vista and 7 are crap.

I'll use either of the latter when they're stable. Yes - Win7 is not stable on my system.... XP FTW.

... also MOAR flatout and trackmania funcomps (just thought i'd re-mention it)

Its now officially official! Makes a great Pre-Respawn LAN for those that want to touch up on their awesome fragging skills! Read below!

SanLAN #1 is official! For a long time, we’ve wanted to run a proper LAN Party in Melbourne’s Southern Suburbs. For years, the only decent public LAN Party south of Melbourne has been 3xtremeLAN, and now, in its Absence, SanLAN Rises, to bring the LAN back to the gamers of the Mornington Peninsula. Coming on the 1st of August, SanLAN #1, held just north of Frankston, in Carrum Downs, boasts a capacity of 60 players, a Full gigabit LAN, and loads of competitions and games.

Sponsored by Centrecom Frankston, and 3Com Networking, the first SanLAN Event has big plans. We have scheduled a Flatout 2 Competition, and a Call of Duty 4 Deathmatch Competition. Centrecom has generously donated prizes, which include Cyber Snipa Gaming Mice, and Logitech Gaming Peripherals. In the mix, we’ll also be handing out cans of Mother to the winners of funcomps throughout the event, and at the end of the LAN, we’ll be pulling a lucky gamers name out of a hat for the door prize – A PC Gamers case, thanks to Centrecom Frankston!
Throughout the event, we’ll have a projector showing the current gaming sessions, and comp times. We’ll also be doing a pizza run from our local pizza shop, and if that doesn’t take your fancy, the venue is close to A Dominoes, KFC, Red Rooster, McDonalds, and Subway. We’re also about a 5-10 minute drive from a 24 Hours Safeway! We’re also nice and close to Centrecom Frankston, if you need to get some gear, but in addition to that, the Centrecom Frankston guys will be at the LAN with some LANning necessities on sale, so if you forget a power or network cable, don’t worry! They may also be able to collect any other hardware you need from their store to bring back to the LAN.

We’ll also have our own little stand to sell Cans of Mother, and other soft drinks and cold water.
The Venue is easy to get to, just off Frankston Dandenong Road, and easy to get to from the Frankston freeway down Seaford Road.

So, The now that we have your attention, here’s the Important Stuff!

Start Time: 10:00AM Saturday 1st August 2009
Finish Time: 03:00PM Sunday 2nd August 2009
Cost: $20.00 per player. Spectators come free
Location: 46a Frankston Gardens Dr , Carrum Downs VIC 3201
Terms and Conditions: http://sanlan.com.au/sanlan/faq.php
Registrations: http://sanlan.com.au/sanlan/members.php

Help us bring the LAN Back to the Mornington Peninsula. See you there!

cheapest raid 5 card you're looking at is a highpoint 2300 pci-e 1x 4 port SATA - $200ish.

Please note, we've changed the venue and date, but the names the same for now smile.gif

Event Name:

SanLAN#1 - Seaford LAN

Location/Address:

46a Frankston Gardens Dr
Carrum Downs VIC 3201

Start Date/Time:

Saturday 1st August 10AM

End Date/Time:

Sunday 2nd August 12PM

Age Restrictions (If Any):

All Age

Description of Planned Events:
SanLAN #1 (though, it should now be SeaLAN, but we decided to keep the name to avoid confusion), is now running its first event in Seaford VIC. Since we couldn’t secure the Sandown venue, we have made arrangements to use the same hall that was home to DLC and Greentube LAN. In light of this fact, the hall is all set up, ready for lannage. It has tables, chairs, and power all ready to go. The LAN Will be pretty much the same stuff, but different venue. We have spots for up to 60 players, and we hope to run a call of duty 4 competition, and a Flatout 2 Competition. We have had one of the admins from DLC Lan create us a basic rego page for our members to register for the LAN Party. Please register for the LAN here: http://www.sanlan.com.au
There Will be a Free BBQ for players, and we’ll be organising a pizza run with the local pizza shop (Dominos is around for those who prefer it). We’ll be organising the comps to run Saturday arvo / night, and we’ll have door prizes on Sunday morning.
We hope to see you all there, and hope you enjoy our first LAN Party.

Cheapest hardware raid solution you'll get are a few hundred, so keep looking past the cheapy standard raid cards you get in yum cha pc shops. Look for brands like highpoint, Adaptec, 3Ware, and Areca for good hardware raid cards.

Power: Didn't notice any hiccups around my area, nor did i hear of any major issues
Network: fantastic as always
Food: I didnt hang around for BBQ's, but i heard they were awesome - also, drinks on sale were awesome as always
Comps: Awesome, except my pc crashed on the FO2 Comp sad.gif The HAWX Comp could have been organised better though. Fun comps were great.
Cooling: Vortex may not have noticed because the admin area didnt have the cooling directly above it, but my mates out in the general player areas were wrapped up like eskimo's because they were sitting right underneith a cooling vent, and were freezing! Not sure about the controls, but i know evap cant have temps set, but perhaps put the fans down lower?

All in all, it was a good lan, despite my random raid failures - sorry to the respawners that had to put up with the beeping from my pc when i was asleep as it failed sad.gif

A note on deoderent: I always bring some, but perhaps if admins could get a hold of those small vending machine deoderent cans to sell up front, for those who forget? Some people seriously stank!
