Looks like irc.oz.org has died again. Hmm maybe we should migrate to a different irc server? or maybe even sit in the Respawn mumble server?

I may just have to give both of these a try. anyone willing to play with me while i give them a go?

How does BF3 Beta go for lag? Does it let players make dedicated servers?

We ended up running 2 servers. one was a survival that ran for the whole lan and the other was a creative server.
I should really try to get some pics up here of what people ended up making in the creative server. it was quite cool.

Next time we just need to get a TV or a good set of speakers to go with it. It worked well when we had it all set up before the event.
Can anyone loan a TV for next time? it needs at least be bigger than 22" and have speakers that can be heard over all the lanning that is going on around it.

The Respawn AOS server that i was hosting off my vps is now down as it was taking up way more bandwidth than i thought it would. It turns out people in Australia enjoy having a local server. Anyway if anyone wants to give it a go let me know and i'll get one going again. I might run one at Respawn V21 as well just for lolz.

Is anyone else going to bring a DDR mat this time around? I only have 1 that I can bring. It is HEAPS more fun with 2 mats.

With Mario DS do we want the "Simple mode" where only 1 in every 8 people needs an actual copy of the game or do we want to play the full blown version (you all need carts)?

I'm not sure how likley it will be to get osu! going. Its 100% internet based multiplayer (unless they have changed something over the past few months)

I have been wanting to play this with someone for a while. i didnt get the chance to do it last time. Wanna play online before the LAN some time?

I dont play it myself but i know of HEAPS of people who do. They will never convert me!

I think from memory the networking side of things for GTA 1 wasnt that great. If one person alt tabs then everyone has to wait for them to get back in.
Although GTA 1 was my fav LAN game a while back I think I'll have to look into GTA 2 to see if it runs any better. Maybe we can arrange an internet game some time soon to see how it goes?

Also if anyone wants to test any of the above mentioned games over the net with me it would be much appreciated.


Minecraft: I need at least 1 person to help me admin the Minecraft server when we get it working. Because it will be running for most of the LAN I cannot possibly be in there the whole time. Does anyone here want to help me out with this?
You will be an admin on the server so you can do whatever you want however if I get any reports of you greifing or going nuts with any of the commands (especially give and tp) then things will get ugly.
You will be able to play in the server like anyone else so you can still have fun and chill and build something cool, you will just be an extra set of eyes and ears for spotting griefing and dealing with it.
Last time I ran the Minecraft server at Respawn we did get some griefing and because I wasnt playing in the server for most of the LAN it went mostly unhandled.
We should be better equipped to deal with issues like that this time around but I still need someone else to help out.

This game can be run under windows or linux (using wine(I've tested!)). I have had heaps of fun so far in it and it is super awesome. Looks "similar" to minecraft in its blocky appearance.
~~~NOTE~~~ you dont "need" the server browser but it makes it easy to change your name (you start off with the name deuce) and your in game resolution.
Also be sure not to press escape when in game as it quits without any warning.

Once you have the game and server browser installed find the "Respawn Australia" server in the list and join in the fun

The map i started with is "Caves0" which has a huge mountian in the center of the map with heaps of caves in the middle.

Ok i decided to get it up and running tonight instead.
Currently the server is up and has 896MB of RAM dedicated to minecraft (128MB for OS)
No mods as of yet. It has been paid for, for one month ($30).
I'm getting a ping of between 40-50ms from my home net connection and it seems to be running nicley in minecraft at least for myself.
Can someone else test it out?

If this works out well i will do more work on it to make it more usable (set up mods/admins and maybe an ftp share with backups ect, ect)
For now its just to test so jump in and cause a rukkus.

ok i have paid for a months worth of the $30 a month Supreme plan with Jumba.

It has just finished being built so i will set it up now and let you know what the server name is soon.

It should be done within the next day or so.
