Majority (if not all) x58 boards are tripple channel RAM, try for a 6gb kit.
Also, where are you buying from? $215 for a 5770 seems a bit much... Gigabyte one from MSY is $189 at last check

Posted by: Naramiki May 9 2010, 04:22 PM

Thanks Man! biggrin.gif
will do.

How much would the 6GB of ram be??

What graphics card should I get!? please help thank-you =]

Posted by: priorax May 9 2010, 07:21 PM

For G2420HD, a 5770 should do you fine (hell, I have that screen and I'm planning on getting one).

MSY price for 6gb is between 220 and 250

But what I should really be asking is where are you intending to buy from? This can change prices quite alot

Posted by: Naramiki May 9 2010, 08:37 PM

I don't really know, I've being checking out prices online. But it would be good to buy all from one retailer instead of all the individual ones offering specials because of shipping.

Could I just go into some computer store and try to get them to price match a bit?

Where would you recommend I go?
I live on the Mornington Peninsula down towards Frankston.

Thanks for your help man smile.gif

If its for gaming, go the i5 750 and an 1156 mobo (and not MSI), get a 5850 (or 5870) and a better power supply

What's a comuter?! tongue.gif

Posted by: R4N May 10 2010, 12:45 PM

Ditch the MSI board, thats only going to cause you troubles.

As oohms said, if its purely for gaming, go 1156 i5 and beef up that gfx card to a 5850.

If you primarilly use it for other processor intensive tasks (photoshop, CAD, etc) then the I7/5770 would prob be a quicker box.

Good luck!

Your lack of qualitative evidence and non-commital wording makes me sad face sad.gif

Give an opinion, give some reasoning behind it, apart from "I don't know about [$brand|$product], I'm not a fan of it", since at the moment, ATI's cards provide a better price/performance ratio.

Acer's build quality also leaves quite a bit to be desired,

Posted by: R4N May 11 2010, 03:12 PM

Anyone who decides not to choose ATI "simply because its ATI" needs a swift kick to the head.

A typo.
I believe they meant commuter.
In which case it is someone who, according to Google is "a passenger train that is ridden primarily by passengers who travel regularly from one place to another "

I think the Razer Arctosa is a bit expensive for what you get. Go for the Lycosa.

Just put together a box almost the same as this, seems to be a balance of decent with everything, only diff is the PSU being 600w and a GTX 260 card and no case, screen or rodent / kb

seems to run the games I like on full spec on my 24" wide (eg stalker, far cry 2, fallout 3 etc)

So your saying it's up to them eyyy. Ultimately you would be right. But then again why are they asking on the forums. They want to be swayed by others in the decision they eventuly come up with. Unlike that guy who wanted to upgrade the graphics card in their laptop. Silly him. tongue.gif

Also, where are you buying from? $215 for a 5770 seems a bit much... Gigabyte one from MSY is $189 at last check

5770 are $110 at msy
