A big thanks to everyone who came to our 35th large-scale LAN party! Games were played, shenanigans were had, garlic bread was eaten

Respawn LAN v35 was perhaps one of the most significant events we've run on the Respawn timeline since we started in January of 2006 - we said goodbye to our regular venue, La Trobe's Union Hall. Since the first Shafted LAN in January of 2000 and the first Respawn six years later, over 60 weekend LAN parties and 35 of them being Respawn events, it was a staple of Australia's multiplayer gaming scene; if those walls could talk, they would tell stories of glory, of friendship, of excitement that we still hear from people today.

v35 was the first event where we had the opportunity to use the venue since the refurbishment - a new ceiling, power upgrades, new lighting and climate control systems promised to offer a higher level of comfort for our attendees - all welcome changes, however it soon became apparent that this would bare a significant cost increase, one which would put at risk our ability to continue running events without a significant price increase passed on to our attendees, which we felt was not sustainable even in the short term. So the decision was made to run one event in the venue to say goodbye before embarking on our mission to find the next home for our events and we're thrilled to be back after waiting an entire year for the venue to become available again since the refurbishment works commenced.

Working with the changes - and with the new venue management at La Trobe, has given us a clearer idea on what we really want from a venue to provide the best event for our community.

A big thanks to our sponsors - NVIDIA, Gigabyte, Corsair, Plantronics Gaming, Bitfenix, Zen Gaming Lounge, Aerocool, Deepcool and Scorptec Computers for their wonderful support for our event, including the representatives who came along over the weekend and joined us.

Thanks to the overclockers who came along and to Gigabyte for supporting them.

Onto the winners of our tournaments!
