We can do it for you. It will change your display name, not your login name, so you will log in with your current name, but you will be displayed as something different.

Unless you'd rather change what you log in with, because we can change that too.

Hi guys and gals,

It's under a week until Respawn v34: Duck Season, and we're getting pumped! We're super excited about our first ever Rocket League 2v2 tournament, we've got some awesome prizes for our Smite 3v3 competition, and we announced $1,000 in cash prizes for CS:GO 5v5 last week.

And now, we're announcing even more prizes!

Thanks to our primary sponsors NVIDIA and Gigabyte for the following:

  • CS:GO Arms Race: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX980 Ti
  • Hearthstone: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX970
  • Rocket League - 2v2: 2x Gigabyte XtremeGaming GTX950

Following the recent launch of the NVIDIA GTX950 GPU, we'll have two demo systems. One will be running a GTX950, and the other a GTX650 so that you can experience the difference the 9 series makes. And we'll have two further demo systems, running GTX980s in SLI to show off gaming in 4k with NVIDIA.

Speaking of high powered gaming, thanks to the Australian OC hwbot team and Gigabyte we'll have some some liquid nitrogen overclocking demonstrations during the event. Just when you thought the weather was warming up, we're cooling you down to sub zero! Aww yeah.

And there are even more prizes!

League of Legends
$500 Cash for 1st place
$250 Cash for 2nd place

Starcraft II
$550 Cash Prize Pool - 250/150/100/50

Doom II 1v1
Corsair Gaming VOID Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset

Flatout II
Corsair STRAFE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

For any upgrade needs or emergency PC supplies, we will have Scorptec on site during Saturday morning and early afternoon.

We're not quite sold out yet, so there's still a chance to get in on the action. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook too!

See you this Saturday! --The Respawn LAN team

You are welcome to show up any time of the night. If whoever is manning the main desk isn't authorised/capable/otherwise unable to check you in then this post authorises them to let you in anyway and we can sort it out once the shifts change over.

Someone asked for this:
http://respawn.com.au/minecraft-creative-v30.zip

World files from the creative comp. I don't own minecraft, so I can't make sure the zip works. Let me know if it's broken or anything.

DOTA2 3V3 Single Elim Tournament.

Please check back for the official ruleset.

what happened to dota 2 5v5, 3v3 makes no sense

It's 5v5. 3v3 was a communication error. Disregard the 3v3!

I was at the venue all through packup and van unloading, and neither heard about nor saw a 3DS. Hopefully this means it's hiding in the bottom of one of your bags!

Our registration system is confusing to a lot of people when they first see it, so I shall endeavor to demystify the mysteries laid within.

There are three stages. At each stage, the list is sorted differently. The initial stage, confirmations stage, and the bump stage. These exist to help keep the system fair.

When registrations first open
The list is grouped in to two groups - prepaid and registered. Inside each group, the list is sorted by registration date. To avoid having the list move around a lot, we reserve a number of seats for prepaids (usually 250ish), so when someone prepays, ye who hath not prepay does not get moved on the list.

Everyone starts as just 'registerd', and when they prepay, they are moved from the registered section to the prepaid section of the list. Because of the reserved spots, this means everyone who registered after the prepaying user gets moved up a spot.

When registrations get full, new registrations will be listed as "Waiting: 1" or 2, or 3 etc. Fear not, those on the waiting list - hope is not lost!

When confirmations open
Confirmations are our way of double checking that you still want to come. We get about a 20% no-show rate from confirmed users, so this is a necessary evil.

Confirmations are usually opened two to three weeks ahead of the event. If you have prepaid, you do not need to confirm - you are already in. Your registration can be confirmed at any time between the open of confirmations and a few days before the event - the time of your confirmation does not impact your final place on the list. When you confirm, your registration will be listed as 'Confirmed' on the player list for the event.

Bumping
Somewhere in the week leading up to the event (Usually about half a week before), we "bump" the player list. This re-sorts the list so that there are three groups. First the prepaids, then the confirmed, then the unconfirmed. If you do not confirm and you have not prepaid, you may be moved down to the waiting list. Inside each of the groups, users are sorted by when they registered - not when they confirmed.

For example, if there are 250 prepaid, 200 confirmed and 200 unconfirmed, spots 1-250 will be prepaid users, 251-450 will be confirmed users, and 451-650 will be unconfirmed users. If the event has 450 places, no one who did not confirm will be clearly in.

We don't "bump" the player list until close to the event, as when the list is bumped, someone confirming their spot will change the order of the list. In the above example, if the unconfirmed player at spot 451 was the first to register (ie, before the user at 251), then when 451 registers, they will be moved to spot 251, and everyone from 251-450 will be moved down one as well. This can create some confusion, so we delay the bump.

TL;DR
Register as soon as possible. This is the biggest factor in not being on the waiting list.

If you can prepay, do so. If you cannot, make sure you confirm. Confirm early if you can, as long as you do it before the cut off date.

In the end, it goes prepaids > confirmed users > unconfirmed users.

Anyone who ends up above the player limit on the event player list page will be on the waiting list, and may not be admitted entry to the event until later on Saturday when we know how full the hall is.

Still confused? Post below or PM one of the Admins on Discord, and we'll update this guide to make it less confusing!

Actually I was wondering what difficulties would be involved for your team if you were to open Respawn on Friday night?

Given that we've been known to still be setting up things at midnight on a Friday night, the difficulties involved are predominately organisation and manpower.

Reset your TCP/IP stack configuration:
start -> command prompt -> run as an admin (right click to select this option) -> type "netsh ip int reset" (or maybe it's netsh int ip reset), then press enter. If the first doesn't work, try the second. It wont hurt anything to put the wrong one in. Reboot.

Then, if that doesn't work, try changing the "MTU" of your network card to 1400. Follow this link, put '1400' in place of nnnn in the command: http://networking.nitecruzr.net/2007/11/se...dows-vista.html

Then, if that doesn't work, go to device manager, delete the network card, reboot. The system will re-detect the card and re-install the driver again, resetting any potentially broken driver settings.

I assume you've already seen the post on the Facebook page and on Cybergamer, as well as the note on the event announcement that went out last night.

It will be a $15 buy in (per person? per team? I'm not sure - I've asked Tristan to clarify), and if there are >=10 teams, the prize will be $500 first, $250 second, or something like that.

The lack of general gaming other than game comps. Now that I have been to one I will make more of an effort to set up a few games during the next event, maybe if I can get an admin to make a quick PA announcement when I have a server up, no fun if people dont join

We're more than happy to do that for you.

We're making some small changes for the next event that should make a big difference in this respect! Mostly organisational behind the scene changes. smile.gif
