as i fairly new to all of this im jst getting draged along for the event lol

The usual method of connecting to the LAN is to connect via cable, although we did have a wireless connection... its preferable for you to connect via cable.

thank ill inform the lappys(laptops) that they need cables if they can.

Yes as has been said by Lawn here, there will be a wireless AP for laptops or other wireless cards to access but you would be well served to bring a decent length cable just in case.
