A common complaint we hear is "But I couldn't hear the announcements!".

Well, Ladies and Mentlegen, complain no longer! We now have a fool proof solution to your problems!

Presenting, The Respawn LAN System Tray Notifier and Annoyer Tool!

Featuring a very simplistic interface, even the silliest of bogans can operate it!

Simply run the program from the website, enter in your username and click OK!

Then, when we need to alert you to something, you'll get a little balloon pop up (which wont interfere with your games or movies) and depending on how urgent the message is, some noise to go with it!

Worried about installing crap on your system? Fear not! Simply delete the downloaded file, and it's gone forever!

This program will be available for everyone to download from the EMS/Intranet at the event.

It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you run this program. Verbal announcements over the PA system will still occur alongisde the notifier.

Thanks for your time, and see you at the event,

--edit--

I would assume that is the purpose of the "Sounds" section

Yes.

Full screen programs will not be interruped by this program. Upon closing the fullscreen app, it should then display the pop up.

Priorax, yes.

It requires the .Net Framework 2.0 to be installed, which is installed by default on both Vista and 7, and quite a few games and applications have it as a prerequisite for installation, so almost everyone will have it installed anyway.

For those without the .Net Framework 2.0, we will have a copy of it mirrored on the LAN somewhere. Check the intranet site for more details.

Wow, great job. Now I can sit in the dark corner where no-one ever ventures, far from prying admin eyes... Excellent...

I wonder what my fullscreen noborder windowed tf2 will do? I'd prefer it to show something in my fullscreen apps anyway, so I don't miss it. Is there an option to repeat the noise (like a snooze button)?

If not, feature request :3

There isn't, but we'll think about it! There's also a list of all your previous notifications you can check too.

So now that the event is over, and you've all hopefully had the chance to use this, what are your thoughts?

I'm aware notifications weren't 100% consistent with PA announcements - it was our first time using it, we need to get in to the habit of using it.

How could it be improved? Did you think it was useful? Did you prefer it over the PA? Can you think of a completely different solution to the "I can't hear the PA because of x" problem?

Feedback is always appreciated, positive or negative.

I like the idea of this and it was a very simple interface so you can't really work it incorrectly, however. I never got a notification past the test one from sando, even when sando tried to send a notification, so dunno whats up with that

I gots a few, but yeah, the only issue I had with it was that there were announcements made over PA but not over notification system. It wasn't used as much as it could have IMO but still a good idea. I think everyone on the admin team needs to know how to use it and forced/coerced into using it every time they make an announcement.

Unfortunately, this bit isn't as easy as you think.

I have noticed that alot of people at respawn have g15s, so I am considering trying to learn how to make an applet for the g15 screen to work with this program.
If I was to make this, would people use this?

--EDIT--

Apparently wolfmother has already started work on this.

From what I have read, if it works on one version, it should work on both.
