Respawn Lan 10 Feedback Options

OK, so i've been to Respawn v1, v2, v3, and now v10. I have been to lans for many years and i can honestly say i've only been to one (>100 player) lan that sucked more then respawn v10 did for me.

Games:
-Played CS Source, TF2, Flatout, and Trackmania which all seemed to have a decent amount of people playing at any one time.

Network/Power/EMS:
-Power was up throughout the time i was there, network seemed fast (although 3-4 of the ports on the switch at my table didn't work, until zardoz did something to the switch iirc?)

Comps:
-I entered the Flatout and Trackmania comps. The flatout comp was run very well imo.

-Trackmania was a shambles - no one even finished the track after a whole hour because the person who ran the comp (lord phobos) seemed more interested in 'showing off' his self made track then running a decent competition. Immediately as the server went up, literally everyone in the server expressed how much of a retarded choice the track was for a comp. Sort of like running a Counter-Strike competition on fy_iceworld. Well done, thanks for wasting an hour of our time.

Other:
-Some of the admins weren't approachable at all and didn't want anything to do with you when you had a problem/query.

-The person sitting in the admin area to Miniwalks' left went off at me for 'interrupting Miniwalks game' when i asked Miniwalks where i could find Deadman. I'm sorry but saying 'over there' and pointing is hardly an interruption. I have no idea if this guy is actually an admin or a 'friend of the admins' who thinks hes a fucking champ because he gets to sit in the admin area, but he was sitting in the admin area infront of a computer, that's good enough for me.

For the record, what this person said was "piss off can't you see he's playing a game" or something a long those lines. I am shocked that an admin would say such a thing to a player.
I pay $25 and drive 40 minutes to go to a lan and be helped by the LAN staff, not to be told to fuck off because you're too busy enjoying yourself.

-Tables were packed in too tightly, only made worse by idiot players who thought they could block a whole aisle for 4 hours while they had a chat.

Overall, i think respawn falls down in many aspects, and some of the staff have a lot to learn about 'customer service' from higher quality lans like 3xtremeLAN. They need to learn that they are running a lan, not a show-off power-tripping popularity competition. Yes admins, this means taht you may have to do hard work, play less games and help people out, omg no wai!

Personally i don't think i can be bothered to go to another Respawn ever again. It's too far away for me, the service sucks, the venue isn't anything special and for 150TB+ on the DC hub, there wasn't much quality content to be had, mostly junk. Also don't even get me started on how allowing NON-HASHED clients is ridiculous in this day and age.

sure they each have set tasks , zardos on the networks mini on the power, me helpin mini even tho im not admin, sure u might have problems with one guy saying what ever he said at you, ( i dont know exactly what he said ) but basicly you are wording it as to say your an admin you shouldnt be playing any games? like wtf you go to any lan admins will be playing games, im sure you would to if u ran one, so just a little respect from both sides here, if hes busy wait a min or 2 theres no big rush.

lol you talk about customer service, do u want to run the lan and go thru all the hassels and head aches they do, yea they provide a service and a dam good one, sure they are not all trained to be the best customer service people they can be BUT WAIT NEWS FLASH they are GAMERS trying to bring people together to play against each other in friendly compitition, to have a laugh , joke around and talk, and offering you benifts of prizes etc,

maybe the tables are a bit packed i cant comment on that i dont do the layouts, only the power which went great with out any major hitches , except for the fool who decided to bring a kettel thats 2000w on a evenly loaded distrobution box which was calculated to give people ample POWER for their COMPUTERS!!!! lol

you complain about people blocking the isle standing chatting to their friends? i dunno about about you but most people i see there use their mouth, and say soemthing like hi guys / girls how are you going can you please move out of the way we are constainyl trying to get thru here? or if that fails then ask the admin ?

so maybe you should calm down and stop having a tearie cause one of the admins said some bad words to you.


i drive 45 min their too woop te do , extremem lan to me is even further away, and i think as well as many other that extreme lan has no where near a good atmosphere as respawn does.


i dont care if u get a grudge on me now after this , but u seem to like to have a flame about little hick ups so thought i might have one back at you , for trying to make something good ... seem bad...

Yeah i know, and those people did a wonderful job of said tasks. It seems some of the people in the admin area were just 'on the bandwagon for the ride' and used their privilege to power trip.

I was not in a rush, here's a text reenactment of the situation:
*TMM walks up to admin table
*admins peer up at TMM
TMM: hey guys, do you know where Deadman is?
Mini: he's seated over there *points*
TMM: oh ok
guy_next_to_mini: piss off can't you see he's playing a game! find deadman yourself etc
TMM: *rolleyes*

If they were busy then i have no problem with being told to come back in 2, 5, 10mins or an hour, but this was not the case. This guy just told me to get stuffed and even more amazingly, he went out of his way to do it after i had already got the answer to my question.

I have never ever heard such a rude comment from any admin of any other lan i've been to. At other lans, when an admin has been too busy or unable to answer a question they have always referred me to someone else that isn't.

Yes, every time i needed to get through i'd say "excuse me" to which most of the time they'd respond by grunting (or not at all) and i'd have to push my way past them. It wasn't where there were people were sitting either, it was in the aisles running perpendicular at the end of the rows of tables. If they wanted to have a chat there is plenty of spaces around the hall out of the way of high traffic aisles where people can socialize. Or outside

But i didn't even provoke the guy, you'd be pissed too. If i'm not worth 5 seconds of their time then they aren't worth my $25 and 30 hours.

If by atmosphere you mean playing silly videos on the projector, then yes i agree.
