Less than two weeks to go!, We can't wait.. can you? Options

The calendar on the wall tells us that we're less than two weeks away from Respawn LAN v4! So we'd thought we'd give you an update on our developments so far.

So, competitions:

$750 CS:Source 5v5 - we're told that Livid and Wu (two of the top clans in the state) will NOT be attending this event! This is good news for previous clans who have attempted to compete in previous events.
$250 Warcraft III DOTA 5v5 first prize
$150 Warcraft III 1v1 first prize
DOOM 2 (using zdaemon)
Quake III Instagib
Hard drive throwing
Console tournaments on the Wii and XBOX 360 consoles run by NGU.
Many door prizes including a top of the line DFI motherboard, a ThermalTake Mozart T Entertainment centre and other giveaways throughout the event!

Food:

We'll be running the usual BBQs throughout the event, cold cans of drink will be $1 each and all attendees of Respawn LAN v4 will receive a 10% discount at the Kingsbury McDonalds, which is about a 15-20 minute walking distance from the venue. We've also got some McDonalds food vouchers which will be given away throughout the event for odd competitions here and there.

Console Games:

NGU will be there in full force, running the console LAN along the side with XBOX, XBOX360 and Nintendo Wii consoles! They'll be running a few comps for us on these which all attendees are welcome to play. If you own such a console, space can be provided in their area for you to set it up, however, you do require a display device (TV, LCD etc) which can connect to your console.

More details will emerge over the next few days - watch this space!

haha @ zardos....put a positinve spin on the fact that your game admin sucks which is part of the reason no real gamers will enter any comps at your event.

though i would have liked to turn up sandy is only 5mins away. i would have come if it wasnt on the same w/e.

It won't be a good clan? Then how will they win the money?

Firstly, my nickname is "Zardoz". It's on the front page. Heck, it's at the start of this thread. It's on your MSN list.

Our game admin does not "suck". If you think he can do a better job, why not let him know, or send me an IM - people who come to our events and pick faults with them (and we are by no means perfect, but people seem to think we do a good job). If you feel we could be doing a better job, feel free to make some suggestions as to how we can make the events better for you.

It's a shame you cannot make it to Respawn but we hope to see you at the next one! Get a CS clan together, it doesn't have to be a good clan.. easy money, I suppose?

essentialy you say that this "helper" will not be running the event again?
or that you admit that respawn hired/let an unexperienced or dumb (what ever the case) admin run your comps.

i come to the lan to play games. this is what a lan is about. yet it doesnt to seem to be much fun nor enticing with that kind of thing happening. as for the CS comp you tried to entice one of the best cs clans to your lan however your track recod in CS has left them not coming at all and the fact that a more experienced game admin team plus better prize money.

if a cs team wants to play against the best in a BIGGER comp they will be going to overload. if a cs clan are going for money they go to respawn as they know it will be an easire win due to the fact that all the best clans will be turning up to overload

as for you name. i tend to only remember peoples names that i think i need to know

Fair enough, but the lan isn't solely about the Counter-Strike competition, its about the social atmosphere, other competitions and of course sharing things with each other. Which the CS players arnt interested but which we have to handle anyway. We didnt hire anyone, and no the same person wont be running or helping with that competition this event.

Ok, as for NGU's and the console side of things. Here are the comps that we plan on running so far:
- Buy in mario kart 64 Comp. (went well last time)
- Wii sports comp (probably 2v2 tennis)
- Possibly 2v2 Gears of War (depending on Interest)

These comps are for fun mainly, not for serrious, money earning interest. Because we have our main event next weekend, we cannot really afford to use any prizes for this event.

Also, if anyone wants any other comps run, let me know here in the forums or over the weekend and depending on popularity and circumstances, we will see what happens.
