So I was sitting here talking to my lovely team mates and I am not sure if there was last time but can we have a League of Legends comp at next Respawn?? LoL has become very popular very quickly and I think it would be a great comp to add into the mix of comps already held at Respawn
Admins?? good idea?? yes =D plz!

While I agree this is a good idea, the main thing I can think of is the lack of LAN support.
For context, I once tried playing a pub TF2 server at Respawn, this server is Sydney based, from memory it was well and truly over 200ms at Respawn.
Keep in mind that scale, then remember that the LoL servers are all based in LA, Germany. With this in mind, and lack of legal LAN support, I can't see it being an overly realistic thing to happen.

As a LOL player myself I'd like this idea however our internet connection cannot support this.

I have a fairly powerful connection at home and I get about 200ms. (this is just me)
Add Steam + Everything else into a connection and you get 1000+ms

It's not feasible currently, that said if we get a better connection or a connection sponsor giving us more than 3mbit currently, then we can revisit this.

Sorry

DotA seems to be the only alternative. Looks like it's time to learn to deny. Damn Lack of LAN.

If we an ISP that sponsored us with a stupidly oversized connection all would be good in the hood. Sadly at this stage given our current arrangements (I even investigated getting ADSL to the venue but given where we are, its like a 6km run plus everything in the way we'd be lucky to get dial up speed.) We know this is a hot issue as it often delays comps, people just setting up random games of CS for fun.

Hope this clears up this.

Is the ping going to be worth it honestly? Purely because if everyone is thrashing 3G I suspect it might be a bit shit (the ping that is).

That's probably your service provider, phone or dongle. Mine was excellent. Then again why would you come to lan to play LoL online? Maybe start a thread and see who from respawn plays and play with them outside of the lan. smile.gif

Rangers is 100% correct, it does vary based on your service provider. Telstra are usually pretty good, and then in descending order its the likes of Optus, Voda, 3, and so on.

I'm with 3 and i'll be honest their coverage for me has been excellent. Like i live in an area where by their coverage map they don't have 3G coverage for me yet i get full 3G reception sooooo yeah pretty happy with 3
