QUOTE (From the front page)
Here at Respawn, we want to get you involved. At this coming event, in addition to some of our usual FunComps, we’re introducing PeerGames.
PeerGames is a new concept where we get yourself and the players around you (your peers!) to run a small competition in the spirit of a FunComp. We let you pick the game, the rules and the win conditions (subject to approval, of course). The aim is to have fun, and we want to let you, the players, pick the best ways to achieve this.
There’s a lot less work involved than it may seem - it’s actually quite a trivial task! If you’re interested in making Respawn what you want it to be, head on over to the forums for more information!
You’ve read this far! Still interested? Sweet!
We’re going to timetable all of these events. Depending on how much interest we get, we’ll run them every hour or two. Where there’s long events (eg, an 8 hour long Minecraft “creativity” comp), we’ll run with overlap, but otherwise we’ll be aiming to keep all of the events in their own timeslots.
When picking your game and rules, keep the following in mind:
- The aim is for fun. It doesn’t matter if there is a winner. These are like FunComps, but run by you!
- Where there is a distinct winner, we may provide a small prize ($5 food voucher or similar)
- Freely distributable or very popular games are preferable - we want to get as many people playing as possible, so if only you and two others have the game, it’s not going to be much use
- You’ll need to be in the game to make sure no one is cheating and a winner, where applicable, is picked.
- The games, including warmup/practice rounds and set up time, should go for anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour. The games should also be unique; unless there’s overwhelming demand, we’ll only run each game once.
- If you need help setting up a server, deciding on rules or anything related to this, we’re here to help!
What do you need to do to be involved? I’m glad you asked!
