I just hope Im not asking too much but can we have a more stable TF2 server at Respawn LAN 9.0 (We want COMP!) this time around running TF2 maps / TFC map re-makes. Last time said server seemed to either go down a fair bit and was functionally not viable.

Considering X thousand CS players have found other games like Call of Duty 4 and made it their girlfriend. rolleyes.gif Hoping CS dies in obscurity.

I think We should Counter Strike give TF2 a fair good whack, *rant about CS - 8 year global boring domination of lawnmower simulator - same old gameplay, lack there of and it's all about strats rah rah rah and realistic competition as if.* dry.gif cause its a pretty rock solid piece of material. laugh.gif wink.gif

nades = spamming, glad they got rid of them.

If we are going to play a tournament, the only solution is 5v5 on the new arena mode

Yeah well the grenade plugin only allows you to have one active grenade at a time in the world environment. So you can hardly 'spam it' where as with TFC they had grenades flying everywhere. With the plugin you can only time and hold one at a time. There is also no timer. Well from my understanding there isn't a timer (just looked on the ClearDeluxe All crit server recently.

The all crits were horrible everyone went Soldier. But the grenades might be able to work. dry.gif

If you read previous TF2 related posts on this site, my point has been made clear on this subject (however i might change my mind if more people are interested)

TF2 seems to have a small group of people who really want to play, which is why i have a server available for the game, however a reasonable comp cannot be run if there isnt at at least 4 full teams that want to have a go. With COD4 and CS competitions running usually people who may have wanted to play in a TF2 competition are occupied.

In relation to "CS dying in obscurity", i dont make that decision. There are quite alot of CS clans who regularly attend the event and we have always offered a competition to cater for them.

If the TF2 server was unstable for V9 i will work on that and take your requests under advisement. I also have no issue giving the TF2 people RCON for the server, so you can operate it how you wish smile.gif

Before the next event, i will put up a competition request thread, if you (the community) really want a TF2 comp to happen please vote for it smile.gif

Having started with QWTF, and moving onto TFC, and still regularly playing till TF2... and now playing TF2 in the region of 30hrs a week (thanks economic crisis for giving me time off) I'm 100% supporting at least a server, but a comp would be too good.

Thats the thing... don't put any of these nades or anything, last thing that needs to be done is modifying the game just for respawn, you can't use grens anywhere else on public servers except a rare couple with the mod. No leagues/comps use any kind of nade mod. And the last thing I want is some 3rd party mod messing with what really is already as plain tf2, such a terrific and extremely balanced game. I love nades, I got called GrenadyShady for a reason back in the days tongue.gif and nade spam doesn't bother me, because the fact is, you would only experience it SOMEtimes and only in pubs. Clan matches (which is where its at) never has that problem.

As much as I still love TFC though, and still play it occassionally when there's a game going (so rare.. sad.gif) with OzFortress or just luckily finding some players in a server. Ive moved onto TF2 and accept the way it is, as default. No nades - was spewing at the start when it came out cause I was a gren/conc fanatic. But just like when TFC came out, (I much preferred it on GoldSrc than Quake) and moved on from QWTF. Same with TF2. What I love is, it's much more team-focused, a team with a good bit of teamwork going, will rape the other team with little teamwork even though they may have some gun players, and that's why it should just be left as plain TF2, in a clan match/war setting, it's that case even more so, which is PERFECT for a LAN setting. Completely down for some of the TFC map remakes, but I must admit, I love nearly all but 1 perhaps 2 of the bundled maps, but again in a war setting, even those less liked maps, are great.

Ive also got 1 mate who plays nothing but TF2 these days, whos coming, and another possibility as long as he can install and update it again before respawn, or willing to do it while there.

I would rather it be at least 6v6 personally (8v8 would be great) but if numbers are hard to make up 5v5 would be the absolute minimum.
