I would really like to see a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 major comp held at the next Respawn.

We are closing in on the release of the game (March 2) and the game is being greatly anticipated by players at CyberGamer, with the BETA set to hit us within days and a BETA comp ladder with already 100+ keen teams.

This game is expected to be 'big' with CoD players and old school Battlefield vets looking for the next best 'competitive game' to get hooked to.

So what do you say guys? I know it's a bit early and the release date might be a bit to close to the Respawn date (maybe). But I just want to bring it to the attention of the admins. I know this game will generate enough teams for a good comp, and you could even push for a sponsorship from DICE (They sponsor a lot of Battlefield comps over @ CG).

Thoughts?

PS: On the topic of new games, please also consider HoN (Heroes of Newerth) which is expected to be released this year and is going to basically be the new DotA.

Me and dead_man were looking forward to this game.. but looks like they might not have dedicated servers for this one either sad.gif

oohms, many people have misinterpreted that press release.

BFBC2 is going to be EXACTLY like BF2. Which means, only 'authorized hosts' can host 'ranked servers'. Assuming competitive matches will be on unranked servers, I don't see any problems for online or LAN competitive play.

Everyone is just freaking out ever since MW2. But anyways, the game isn't even released yet, so it should be all clear once its out tongue.gif

Will attract way to many people... more than what respawn can have ... style will be 8v8.. 8x20 = 160 people already...
Would be very hard to sit next to team mates etc.
But good idea none then less.

im still looking forward to this game and ill clarify the server issue,

at the current point in time though there are dedi servers to authorized hosts there are no unranked server files for us to use. EA have stated this may change in future once the full game is released and they get some more feedback.

saying that after seeing the new rush gamemode that could make for some EPIC clan matches for Comps.

people are forgetting that BFBC2 is not like other BF titles, it was always designed for smaller team combat so the need for 8v8 may not be there. also finding a timeslot in my ever busy schedule to manage a comp of that size would be INSANE,

this is all speculation but once it is released and i get an idea of what we can and cannot do ill post back.

BETA is out in a few days so im gonna be busy biggrin.gif

its not there is no dedicated servers they are trying to control who can host them by only making the dedicated server software available to "trusted partners only" the idea is they dont what hackers to take the software apart like what happened with cod4 and all the no cd key needed servers that are out there now.

i think once it happens anyway or a little more testing down the track they will prolly atleast make a version that can be used at lans or something.

there wernt that many cracked servers anyway.

saying that im DLing the beta now and woke up at 4:30AM to get it lol

I wouldn't mind a new big popular FPS that we can run at respawn, but the trend seems to be that LAN gamers get shafted these days.
