Hey there.

Im a longtime attendee of Fragfest in Sydney, and would LOVE to come down to this event.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on transport there... Driving would be a pain in the ass... If i was to fly, does anyone know the best/safest/cheapest way i could get my PC's down there (I would have 2x PC's, 1 monitor... my lanbag could come with me as carry on)

Why would you need 2 PCs and only one monitor? Pretty sure gaming would be pretty hard without a monitor for the second PC. Would also be pretty hard to connect 2 PCs to the network given that you're only supplied with one network port.

Second one (I am guessing) would be a server with and with atleast 2 RJ45 ports, that wouldn't need a monitor, and you run the network cable into one port and bridge the connection to get the connection onto the other port as well.

My questions were rhetorical.

Twitchy: Flying with computer gear checked in, is BAD BAD BAD. Guys from Canberra did that and the shaking/shuddering of the plane damaged their HDDs. Sure its okay to carry on a laptop but anything else... terribad idea.

As everyone above have said, You only get 1 port and there are plenty of sydney guys who do come down to game with us so it might be worth talking to them. I went to an Adelaide event in a hire car, so trust me, it can be done if you put your mind to it.

I have known a few people to check their pc's for flights, they all take their hdds out and put them in their carryon.

Also make sure your cpu heatsink is secure. If its not screwed down, you may want to put it in your carry on too. you dont want a nice chunk of metal bouncing around between your psu and video card.
