Über weekend we had, damn straight.

This event was much more of a chilled environment, however still had the intense LANning feel about it,

So in this thread, Place your opinions, and feedback.

Look forward to seeing your opinions

We had a great time as always. But no more running during iron gut comp.
Just say'n. See you in April XD
VOIZAH!
We all had a good time (even with the mishap during the Iron Gut) - the only thing that seemed to be missing were all the fun / large FFA comps you guys used to have (although I did play in the HL2DM one, that was pretty cool to - I'd like to order more of that sort of thing wink.gif). Massive plus for the internet with Steam the way it is at times (L4D 2 decided it needed a 2GB update) - it really makes a difference (lower levels of frustration?) particularly as more games are heading online-only. Also - good work on the dinner sausage sizzle - delivered at exactly the right time!

I'd be keen to hear more about how well the League Comp was received too?

I know we hit a few minor hiccups (not everyone had a high enough level to run draft but most adapted well) and then at 6pm the network had a minor brain fart and some internet capacity was lost/limited which the team looked at (I remember letting Zardoz/Squid know about it).

I'd love to see it grow further. We had 8 teams (so 40 players). We only had a single elim but I'd love to run it in a "Double Elim" with a winners and losers bracket so even the losing teams get a bit more fun and a chance to win some prizes.

Complaints:
(Players) Those loud TF2 (most likely?) players across the table. Oh, and the person with the laptop who "took" my un-reserved spot, moving me to the other side of our table...I see that less as a complaint, since it put me further away from the mentioned loud players.

(Staff/Venue) That awful music turned up for who-knows-what reason -- Some of us are too old for that shit, and prefer to keep our hearing where it is. Barring that one incident, music choice (and volume) was fine.

(Misc.) A lack of consoles? maybe? I understand they're not provided by Respawn and associates though. This is mostly here since the SSBM guys weren't around, and my "Gamer TVs" (28" and 34" CRTs, BASE brand and Sony Trinitron) are barely movable.

Everything else was fine 'n dandy, run as expected, other praise and so on.

Edit: Just noticed that was my first post here. Huh.

Firstly not an admin, want to put that out there right now...

So you are annoyed your unreserved space was taken? I can get how that might frustrate a person but I would suggest prepaying to capture a space for you! Prepay means it's yours provided you book it via the thread the admins open up every event.

Are you talking about the Triple J number one song?

Only a little bit, since I was planning to be next to my friends. We had Skype working across the table though, since one of our Awesomenauts players is US based.

It was that one song (only the one really) with too much bass and not enough music. Opinion, of course, but consideration goes a long way.

Awesome weekend, the triple j top 100 was a real good idea. So kudos to whomever thought of that one. Will def be back in April BRING IT ON smile.gif

Thanks for the awesome lan guys, first time for me and I had a ball, can't wait for the next one.

The good

Thanks to Elblacker and co for late night entertainment in chat, no homo

great setup, so good to be able to rock up, set up and be gaming straight away with no dramas. Big thanks to the admins, it must take a huge amount of time and effort to run a lan this size

Triple J top 100, great idea, loved it.

great comps

snags & pizza om nom nom nom

The bad

more ffa/non-team comps, as a newbie I didnt have any teams, and could only get my way into a TF2 team, which was a great team for a bunch of randoms.

Timing of the game comps kinda sucked, but thats understandable, as the game comps had to keep running. But I missed out on the blur and flatout comps because I had rounds of TF2 to play

The people who complained about the #1 triple J song being turned up. It was one song FFS, the other 99 songs werent turned up, surely you can tolerate it for 3ish minutes, it wasnt even that loud.... The top 100 countdown is something alot of people look forward to on Straya Day

The lack of general gaming other than game comps. Now that I have been to one I will make more of an effort to set up a few games during the next event, maybe if I can get an admin to make a quick PA announcement when I have a server up, no fun if people dont join

We're more than happy to do that for you.

We're making some small changes for the next event that should make a big difference in this respect! Mostly organisational behind the scene changes. smile.gif

This LAN was one of my favorites by far since my first Respawn.
I heard every announcement, Join in a few games and had some great chats with friends. People were nice and helpful which just made the night very enjoyable.
Admins, you have out done yourself and I am looking forward to the next one. Excited!! laugh.gif
Jen
I was shocked when wombat didn't win the MS Paint Comp!
