Hi! there are various reasons for this. For the last few LANs, a major complaint has been that it's been too crampt. We're reducing the player density, so you'll now have a bit of room to lean back and stretch during the LAN. The noshow rate last LAN has also contributed to this. It means we can space things out a bit better to allow for more room for socialising, AFK comps, etc.

We would rather run a slightly smaller, BETTER lan, than a large empty, not so great LAN.

I hope this is enough information for you, although feel free to contact me if you wish.

This has been covered in the forums already so i will be brief.

1. OH&S. The event was getting very crowded as we tried to cram more and more people into the venue.
Due to this we have decided that it is better for the players and the team to have a smaller, more comfortable event. Saying this, we are scouting new venues which could accommodate more people smile.gif

2. No Shows. Unfortunately even though we have 800+ people register, and confirmations fill up in hours instead of days, we have quite alot of noshows each event. We have attempted to solve this problem by putting a prepaid system in place. So people on the list who really do want to attend our event, can get a guaranteed seat, and we fill the venue. No shows are VERY expensive for us (table hire, equipment etc...), and for now this is another reason we have limited player numbers for this event.

Hope this has helped smile.gif

No shows?

Probably because of the amount of "dummy" registrations.

Should be a 400 player pre-paid event with priority given to those that have been confirmed as attending previously.

This will sort out a loyal player base from trash in a big hurry.

deano, that kind of excludes players who are unable to pre-pay on the day that registrations open due to funds going towards bills, other expenses or who are unable to pay for other reasons.

A fair split of 200 pre-pay and 200 pay-on-the-day slots allows for players of all ages to come together and (I hope) game together in both social and competitive environments, and more importantly, play Tron in both.

That's unnecessarily alienating a big part of the userbase.

I know you said you found it, but its 2 weeks before the event, or 200 players (which we are only ~5 away form hitting.)

It was a lot more popular than we expected! and we hope it has worked well for you guys too!

You just put money through paypal? or you only got paid yourself by Paypal?

I suggest you PM one of the ADMINS pronto because looking at the player list, we're at 201 confirmed prepaid players which may mean you've left your run too late. Theymay be able to work a solution for you(there is no promise here they will have one, the only alternative you have, is to stalk the website for when confirms open and confirm your space like superman fast.

Jeffy Edit: Okay so the confirmations thing may be a little different than I remember/knew.

When you confirm has no bearing on your order within the set of people who have confirmed; only the date of registration does.

Negative. After the bump, the player list is dynamic. You will still move to the same spot you would have if you'd confirmed before the bump. The bump happens to give everyone a pretty good idea of where they'll be placed.

(That said, confirm ASAP anyway. We love to know what numbers to expect, and you don't want to forget)
