With all these new MMOs out or coming out soon, I thought it was worth reminding some, introducing others, to their predecessors: MUDs.

The MUD I play at recently did a really great write-up for complete beginners to MUDs. Considering most people here (including me) were too young when MUDs were the big thing, that's us. It's geared towards my MUD, but it's pretty much the same at other MUDs too.

Multi-User Dungeons - A 2010 Guide For Beginners

I'd recommend it for being:
- Free
- Easy to set up
- Multiplayer goodness

Plus I like how most 'modern' MMOs have features derived from MUDs and usually not as many laugh.gif

But also out of curiosity, did anyone try it out? Was the guide easy to follow?

I have not tried yet, but I luurve MUDs.
