We hope that everyone who rocked up had a fantastic time. We've fully recovered (most of us!) and planning for the next event is already underway. Photos are now uploaded for those who have been patiently waiting.
To improve things somewhat for the next event we will be very strict about reigstrations and confirmations. This is so that we're not running around at the last minute trying to find extra seats for people - but we must say, this has been the biggest Respawn event yet!
A big thankyou to all those who helped out, the gophers, the admins - and everyone who pitched in and gave us a hand when we needed it - this stuff doesn't go unnoticed.
Onto the competition winners - a big thumbs-up to our sponsors ThermalTake and Centre Com for making this possible. We also applaud Centre Com for the great job they did at providing PC hardware and accessories (such as network cables) throughout the event - a fabulous effort!

Remember to update steam
|
4th July 2008 - 04:04 PM |
|
Tomorrow is the big day, everyone has been working tirelessly over the past few weeks to get ready for what is looking like it will be the best Respawn LAN yet.
Just a quick reminder to anyone wishing to play CS/TF2/HL or any steam based games.
To please update your steam games before arriving at the venue.
Limited internet access will be available to login to steam, but players will be shaped to 64kbit/sec therefore downloading 100’s of megabytes of updates will be very slow. Due to the limited amount of bandwidth available for internet access, no exceptions to this will be made during the lan.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the LAN tomorrow. |

THE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
Q: I'm registered but I'm number 380 which is over the 350 limit for capacity. What's the go? A: Please CONFIRM your registration. If there is any contention for remaining places, we will give priority to those who have registered and confirmed.
HERALD SUN MISPRINT
Page 45 of Today's edition of the Herald Sun states "LAN Thursday and Friday: www.respawn.com.au". The LAN is in fact Saturday and Sunday.
CALL OF DUTY 4 COMPETITION
During a meeting on Friday night, we decided to offer $250 cash first prize for COD4. Beer was involved in the making of this decision. We look forward to supporting the COD4 community for v8 and future events.
CASE MOD, DRESS-UP ETC
We'll be looking for some creative and spiffy case mods as well as looking for those who are best in-theme. Prizes will be awarded.
CONSOLE GAMING/OLD SCHOOL CONSOLES/GAMES ETC
Drop us a line via the forums if you want to bring any old gear and we'll sort something out. If anybody has an original IBM PC XT or similar with CGA/EGA graphics, let us know... |

More competition info
|
26th June 2008 - 05:37 PM |
|
Just an update on some of the competitions and happenings next weekend:
- Flatout 2 - please vote over here (forums link) as to what options you'd like - race, derby, maps etc. Flatout 2 was popular last LAN and it's sure to be even more popular this time around.
- Counter-Strike: Source will attract prize money just like last time.
- Warcraft III 1v1 and DOTA will have $150 (first), $50 (second) and $250 (for DOTA) prizes respectively
- All your base are belong to us.
- Worms World Party will actually run and be hours of hilarity.
- Hard Drive Throwing will probably feature a Maxtor 250GB hard drive - I've had eight of these fail on me, at least and I need to vent my frustrations.
- Counter-Strike: Source Gungame will have the guns in REVERSE ORDER (Para first, AWP second etc ending with the grende level and then knife to win). The map will be breakfloor2k5.
- COD4 will probably be a disorganised shambles again but we're aiming for Search & Destroy, 5v5 teams
- War3 Naval Combat may or may not run depending on interest; this will be a buy-in, winner takes all competition.
- Tribes is a good game, shame nobody else really played it. Zardoz really wants some 6v6 action on raindance or or something. Download it for free, I;m sure there are links on Tribin' or something.
We'll have some older games happening over the weekend, such as Super Mario Bros, Battlefield 1942, QuakeWorld, DOOM 2 and many more! (has anybody got an Atari 2600 with a way to get an AV output? We'd love to run a PONG tournament).
Also don't forget our AFK comps which include the Pinata and REAL LIFE PONG....
Yep.
We look forward to seeing you all there! |
