Once again, Respawn LAN delivered with yet another successful event under our belts. Thanks to ThermalTake, there were plenty of prizes to go around at this LAN; DragonYoung was lucky enough to win a ThermalTake LANBOX PC case as a door prize.
Photos are up here..
Many games were played including the newly released Team Fortress 2 and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Given the popularity of TF2, we will definitely be running a competition for it at our next event on January 12-13th - more info soon!

v5.5: two weeks to go
|
21st September 2007 - 03:01 PM |
|
News may have been slow but rest assured we are fast preparing for the next installment of Melbourne's premiere LAN gaming event.
Game releases have been running hot - Team Fortress 2 beta is now out on Steam for people who have pre-ordered the full version and reports so far are looking good. The ET:Quake Wars demo was also released with the full version available before the event. We expect to see plenty of these two games being played over the weekend.
Command and Conquer: Gold was also released as a free download, too.
Stay tuned for more announcements early next week. But for now, back to Quake Wars.... |

Respawn.com.au Outage(s)
|
16th August 2007 - 12:23 PM |
|
Sorry about the site outage(s).
The server has had a few issues over the last few days. A bungled glibc upgrade meant we had to pull the server from the hosting in the city to fix it. As part of the repair job, we upgraded to php5 as its required for a few new sites on the server, this broke the Respawn site though :S.
The server is now re-located in a nice new data centre managed by Omni Connect that we have access to when required.
We are planning a hardware upgrade in the next few weeks. But I’ll post more info about that when it’s going to happen.
Thanks everyone.

Respawn v5.5 "lite", Pub Night this Friday
|
6th August 2007 - 01:29 PM |
|
Hot on the heels of v5, we bring you yet another quality Respawn LAN event. Due to venue availability (and close proximity to exams for many gamers), we figured that people wouldn't want to wait till our next large event in January, so we're introducing Respawn Lite running at The Odeon, Latorbe University (this is a smaller hall right next to union hall). ET: Quake Wars has been confirmed for release only a week before so we expect this to be a fantastic opportunity to get your hands dirty with the latest in 3D gaming. We're expecting around 180 players. and will be running on October 6th-7th.
So, half the size, twice the fun. More infomation soon!
Also, to launch this event we are running another RESPAWN PUB NIGHT scheduled for THIS FRIDAY 10th AUGUST at the Belgian Beer Cafe Eureka. They have chocolate beer, too! |

So here ends another successful Respawn LAN event. Despite the network issues we had in the morning, we feel it has been one of our most successful events thanks to a glowing response from the community. Once again, we're pleased to see such a positive response from everyone who attended.
A big thank-you to everybody who helped out - the admins, the gophers and everybody else who lent us a hand when we needed it. These things do get noticed and this enables us to create the best possible gaming experience for everybody.
