So we're hard at work getting ready to give you guys the BEST Respawn event so far! Registrations are going smoothly and there are plenty of old names that have caught our attention. This should be a fantastic event.
Feel free to sign up and post on our forums (we're getting our skins re-done so be patient with the plain look at this stage) and of course, have a chat to us with IRC (server: irc.oz.org in channel #respawn). Don't have an IRC client? Grab one here.. We're open to all suggestions. Admins are active on the channel and on the forums every day.
NGU will be attending with the usual kick-ass array of XBOX and XBOX360 consoles, TVs and so on and will be setting up in a dedicated area for anybody who feels like a game or two. Of course, we can accomodate anybody who brings their own gaming console - just be warned that you will need a display device (TV, PC screen, projector).
Anybody good with chopsticks? We're going to have a chopstick eating competition! Also returning will be the wheely-chair race. On the LAN side of things. we're thinking of a competition for TRACKMANIA NATIONS (which is a FREE download).
How about a few big games of QUAKE 2 for some old-school gaming action?
Prizes will be announced in the next few days. Stay tuned! |

Respawn v3: The Ninja - Aug 19th-20th
|
3rd July 2006 - 05:41 PM |
|

It's coming! Yet another Respawn LAN to rock your socks off! (please don't leave them on for more than 24 hours this time...ok?). Up to 400 players, two days of action-packed lannage! Yes, it's been a while but we've been hard at work.
Competitions will include Quake 3 Instagib, CS:S 5v5, hard drive throwing, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Warcraft III 1v1 (and we're doing DOTA this time by popular request!). The hard drive throwing will be BACK (hard drives supplied but feel free to bring your own icon of data loss).
We also have free demo DVDs of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the first 350 people through the door!. We will also be giving away FIVE COPIES OF THE FULL GAME! Thanks to CyberSlam (those nice guys who sent us the package) and UBISOFT (for producing the game and giving CyberSlam said goods to place IN the package)! Extreme LAN are trying to get the largest amount of people playing the game at one time at their event - let's see if we can ..umm.. do better?
We'll be doing the free food and cheap drinks thing again. There'll be a pizza run with Pizza Haven just like last time.
So I suppose the point is, time to register! We are aware of current limitations of the AusGamers registration system and will be moving to a new registration system NEXT event. Until then, please drop us an e-mail via the link on the AusGamers website if you wish to register and are consequently unable to do so.
Also, Here is a nice big link to registrations..
Members of the Respawn admin team will be attending Extreme LAN this weekend in Clayton on a bit of a promotional tour. Say hi! |

Respawn v2 was a winnar!

Firstly, a quick apology about the lateness in updating our site. No, we're not dead - we had a very large issue with our webhosting provider who gave us the runaround for weeks with downtime and lost our data to top that off. We're now hosted on a local server which we control so hopefully this won't be happening again!
This unfortunately means that everybody will have to sign up to the forums again. We deeply regret having to do this but there's sadly nothing we can do about it.
A big thanks to everyone who came and made this yet another special Respawn event for us.
Just like last time, we constantly welcome any suggestions and feedback to help us improve our events. Feel free to drop us a line in the forums and let us know how we did!
A big thanks to our sponsors: Thermaltake (Cool all your life!) who gave us a Silent Water watercooling kit and some Xaser bags to give away and CyberSlam * AMD who contributed plenty of AMD merchandise this time around (they even managed to rush the package to us overnight). They kicked in big time for this event and we are VERY happy for their support.
Onto the lucky winners of this event:
Warcraft III 1vs1 1st place: Jordon, who took $100 cash and a Respawn v2 Warcraft III trophy 2nd place:DarkRookie who took $50 home.
Warcraft III Battleships 3 vs 3: 1st place: Ghosty, Wakymobob and Reaper - these guys won a Respawn v2 Warcraft III Battleships trophy (each) and an AMD prize pack consiting of an AMD t-shirt, water bottle and stickers thanks to CyberSlam and AMD.
Warcraft III DOTA Buy-In: 1st place: Pure Ownage DOTA, each team member won $15 each.
Quake 3 Instagib (my personal favorite) 1st place: angelX, who took home the Thermaltake Silent Water watercooling kit and a Respawn v2 Quake 3 Instagib trophy. 2nd place: CLM, who won an AMD t-shirt, waterbottle and cap and lanyard thanks to AMD and CyberSlam.
Counter Strike Source 5v5 1st place: Caek, who each won Respawn v2 CS Source 1st place medals and $50 cash each. 2nd place:
Battlefield 2 8v8 1st place: ADI, who won Respawn v2 Battlefield 2 first place medals and $200 for the clan
Cyberactive Voucher Door Prize: won by Ghosty, who will be treating himself and 19 other people to an all-nighter LAN event at CyberActive Digital.
Hard Drive Throwing Comp (HDTC) We didn't take down explicit names for this one, but many people won AMD merchandise thanks to CyberSlam and AMD.
Best-dressed pirate: First place took home an AMD water bottle, cap and a Thermaltake XaserBag thanks to CyberSlam, AMD and Thermaltake!
Good Game.
(Oh, and we're about to announce another event, stay tuned). |
