It's on again! Respawn LAN is BACK again for another action packed weekend of LAN action! This time we're getting down with the DISCO FEVER.
This event will include the return of our successful Counter-Strike: Source event offering $750 for 1st place, along with a 5v5 DOTA by popular demand. DFI have generously come onboard in association with the Smart Shop to offer us three DFI LANparty motherboards for prizes throughout the event.
Other competitions will include the hard drive and PC throwing competiton (with some creative rules), Unreal Tournament 2004, Trackmania Nations, Warcraft 3 1v1 and the usual array of AFK competitions. We hope to be spinning the DISCO BALL on Saturday night and we have a few surprises planned.
Disco Stu says: Come to Respawn LAN v4.

Thanks to ProActive Self Defence for their amazing demonistration of martial arts.
Most importantly, I must take the time to thank every admin, gopher and player for helping us make this the most successful Respawn event to date. I've been involved with LAN admin for over six years and v3 has been one of the most enjoyable events I have run.
A big shout to Norgs who helped us with arranging the 10 Gigabit Ethernet gear for this weekend.
Thanks to the admin team:
Katster, who ran the AFK comps and did the most incredible job making the venue kick ass, BumbleBJ, who arranged the venue, floorplan, check-ins, barbecues and keeping track of the money, Blackjack (assisted by Sando) for developing and maintaining the EMS throughout the event, xitation for his magic with the servers, The Shadow for ensuring that our competitions ran as smoothly as possible and configuring competition servers and Daemo for handling drink sales and assisting with power throughout the event. There were many other tasks performed by the admins, gophers and players who helped us run this event (including those who helped me maintain the network and resolve technical issues) - there are fortunately too many to list.
GG to all those who remained behind to help us keep the event clean. We got a thankyou from the venue staff for the state of the venue.
We look forward to seeing you at the next Respawn event for something a little different! |

Ten Gigabit Ethernet, timetable, registrations.
|
16th August 2006 - 09:08 PM |
|
Thanks to the help of Swinburne University and Cisco Systems, Respawn LAN will be the first LAN in the country to make use of the high-speed 10 Gigabit Ethernet standard as part of our backbone for Respawn LAN v3.
We are still putting the final touches on our event timetable. For now, we can expect the following:
* Warcraft 3 1v1 to begin at 12:30PM (this is early!) * Warcraft 3 DOTA to begin at 3:30PM * Counter-Strike SOURCE 5v5 to begin at 5PM. * Trackmania Nations to begin at 9:30PM
There will be breaks for food in between. NGU Gaming League will be running various tournaments on their XBOX and XBOX 360 consoles throughout this time - these will be publicised at the event.
Please ensure you arrive with sufficient time to verify that your PC is working. Due to the popularity of some of our competitions (especially CS Source), we cannot afford to delay the competitions.
Regarding registration for this event, the AusGamers system still permits registration however the ability to view player list is currently broken. We can still extract the data from this list, however, so it is important that all players have registered so we can ensure that sufficient capacity is catered for.
We look forward to seeing you there! |
